The big stage in the Greater Bay Area blooms with colorful youth

【Big Bay Observation·Hong Kong Youth Chasing Dreams in the Bay Area】

A few days ago, the Central Government’s Eight Articles for Hong Kong Youth were released, aimed at broadening the channels for Hong Kong youth to develop in the Mainland, promoting comprehensive exchanges, extensive exchanges and in-depth integration between Hong Kong youth and the Mainland, enhancing the national identity of Hong Kong youth and enhancing their confidence in their development.

The central government has always attached great importance to the healthy growth of Hong Kong youth, and has taken various measures to build more platforms and ladders for the development of Hong Kong and Macao youth.

Especially in the recent period, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has provided more possibilities and expanded space for Hong Kong and Macao youths to innovate, start their businesses and live their lives.

The improvement of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's electoral system and the full implementation of the principle of "patriots ruling Hong Kong" have provided institutional guarantees for the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong's society and the stability and long-term development of "One Country, Two Systems".

Hong Kong is actively participating in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and integrating into the overall development of the country.

In this context, as long as the young people of Hong Kong seize the opportunity and start to act, they will surely have a brighter future.

Work hard to shine with thousands of people who have dreams

Narrator: Gao Yuehua, founder of Shenzhen Changyu Health Technology Co., Ltd.

I am born in Hong Kong and born in the 1980s. I am one of the few domestic professionals with a background in smart home engineering, cognitive impairment care and design.

Currently, I started my own company in Qianhai, Shenzhen, engaged in pension and general health related industries.

On September 6, a series of new policies in Qianhai, Shenzhen, were promulgated, including measures to promote professional services, science and technology, and cultural industries in Hong Kong, encouraging the development of overseas markets, etc., which made me and small and medium-sized business owners like me full of expectations. One day can also go out from the international stage of Qianhai to other places in the world.

My previous work experience in a multinational company gave me a deep sense of the growing strength and vigorous development prospects of my motherland.

In 2018, I decided to move from Hong Kong to Shenzhen.

I feel that I am not familiar with the Mainland, and I still need to work harder to learn. So I went to various cities in the Mainland after work to understand people's lifestyles, and at the same time, I was familiar with the Mainland's consumer market, policies, people's livelihood, and the development of various industries.

I know a dean of a nursing home. She said that boredom is the norm for the elderly in nursing homes.

Many people watch TV for a few hours, but nursing homes are short of manpower and do not know what to do.

I found that this is a very common but unresolved situation. I started to have the idea of changing the status quo. This should be a very interesting and meaningful thing.

After considering market demand, industrial chain and technical barriers, I began to explore and develop in this area.

Shenzhen Qianhai's excellent environment, transportation, policies, and atmosphere are very attractive to me. In 2020, I decided to establish a start-up company in Qianhai.

My work includes policy consultation and implementation for healthy community projects, retirement space design for elderly care projects, training for specialist medical staff, development of entertainment for the elderly and toys for preventing dementia, etc.

When communicating with colleagues, I often hear people say that they want to refer to the design or practices of elderly care in Hong Kong or other countries.

However, we found that the living habits of the elderly in China and foreign countries are very different, and even the hobbies of the elderly in different provinces and cities in China are also very different.

For example, Chinese elderly people like lively and square dancing, and in Japan they may pay more attention to the quietness of public places.

What we need is not to directly copy the models in other places, but to use open and keen thinking and insights to truly listen to the voices of users and create things that meet the needs of the Chinese elderly.

Affected by the technological city of Shenzhen, I studied and obtained professional qualifications related to smart homes.

I found that many mainstream health smart applications focus on detection products.

But I believe that, to become healthy, finding problems and testing is only the first step. Promoting healthy behaviors and eliminating risk factors are important factors for making people healthier.

In terms of institutions, smart technology that assists institutions to face manpower shortages and improve efficiency is the more urgently needed part.

Discussing with technology companies, owning start-up companies, developing entertainment product development for the elderly, etc. are things that I couldn't imagine when I was a wage earner in Hong Kong a few years ago.

This is an era of rapid development. We have shifted from pursuing "quantity" to "quality", paying more attention to quality and innovation.

We must see risks in comfort, opportunities in difficulties, and be prepared when opportunities are not here, and stick to our original intentions not to give up.

I am not alone. Here, in Shenzhen, there are thousands of people who have dreams working hard together and shining.

This is a city full of opportunities and challenges

Narrator: Chen Hanyong, Financial Investment and Construction Project Management Center, Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau, Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province

When I was in college, I thought about going to Guangzhou to work after graduation, so I learned about the current employment situation and various life problems in Guangzhou through various channels early on.

In recent years, the party and the government have encouraged and supported young people from Hong Kong and Macao to work and start businesses in the Mainland. The "Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" clearly stated that "research and promote Chinese citizens of Hong Kong and Macao residents to apply for civil servant jobs in the Mainland in accordance with the law."

Finally, I was also fortunate to work at the Financial Investment and Construction Project Management Center of the Huangpu Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau.

Many Hong Kong friends are worried that they will not be able to enjoy the same treatment as locals when they come to work in the Mainland. There will be various restrictions. Regarding this issue, I can say with certainty that these concerns will not exist.

The Measures for the Application and Issuance of Residence Permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents, issued in 2018, provide convenience for eligible Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents to participate in social insurance, employment, school, and medical treatment in the Mainland, and protect the legal rights and interests of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents.

I also applied for my residence permit in 2020, which helped me solve many problems, such as transportation.

The local government has introduced many preferential policies for young people from Hong Kong who come to Guangzhou to work and start businesses.

In the case of Huangpu, the implementation rules on supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship of Hong Kong and Macao youths clearly stated that housing for qualified Hong Kong and Macao youths should be provided, and a rent subsidy of not less than 50% of the market rental price should be provided.

Huangpu District will provide 100 sets of housing for young talents from Hong Kong and Macau every year.

In addition, there are monthly housing subsidies, transportation subsidies, internship subsidies, and entrepreneurial subsidies.

These policies have provided great convenience to us young people in Hong Kong who came to Whampoa for employment and entrepreneurship, and eased our economic pressure on housing and transportation. Working here is like working in our hometown.

I remember when I first came to Huangpu, the scenery, transportation, and public facilities of Huangpu made my eyes shine.

I have been working here for three months. Some time ago, I participated in the induction training and visited the projects that our unit was responsible for. After reading it, I was very shocked.

The project has a huge amount of work, and at the same time, it is not easy to ensure that it is completed within the specified time.

Without the strong support of the party and the government, the day and night efforts of the project leader, and the struggle of the workers on the front line, there would be no Whampoa today.

With the in-depth development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the establishment and implementation of preferential policies and measures related to employment for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots in the Mainland, various problems of Hong Kong and Macao people working in Guangzhou have gradually been solved, and everyone has a huge opportunity brought by urban development. .

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has obvious geographical advantages, convenient transportation conditions, a sound foundation for cooperation, and a leading international level.

As an international financial, shipping, trade center and an international aviation hub, Hong Kong has a highly internationalized, legalized business environment and a global business network. It is one of the freest economies in the world; Macau is a world tourism and leisure center and China’s The role of the service platform for business cooperation in Portuguese-speaking countries has been continuously strengthened, and the function of multicultural communication has become increasingly prominent.

The construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major opportunity for Hong Kong and Macau to cultivate new advantages, play new roles, achieve new development, and make new contributions. It is also a major opportunity for Guangdong to continue to be the vanguard of reform and opening up in the new era. It is conducive to further deepening reform and opening up. Establish a new open economic system that is in line with international standards, and build a new platform for high-level participation in international economic cooperation.

This is the reason why I came to Guangzhou and Huangpu. This is a city full of opportunities and challenges.

Contribute to the country's semiconductor and material industries

Narrator: He Kangqiang, Ph.D. in Materials Science, City University of Hong Kong, Founder of Sitedi New Material Technology Co., Ltd.

I was born in 1992. After obtaining a PhD in materials science from the City University of Hong Kong, I came to Shenzhen Futian Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Zone and founded Sitedi New Material Technology Co., Ltd. with a few PhD students, mainly engaged in the independent semiconductor packaging materials. R&D and production.

During my PhD, I served as the president of the Graduate Student Council of the City University of Hong Kong for two years and the graduate student representative of the Council of the City University of Hong Kong for one year. It can be said that I am an experienced student worker.

During this period, the graduate students I lead will act as a bridge between students and the school, and actively help students solve problems encountered in their study and life.

The "Regulations Amendment Disturbance" in Hong Kong in 2019 and the new crown pneumonia epidemic in 2020 are a great challenge for me.

We are a group of patriotic young people who love Hong Kong. We cannot tolerate the rioters during the "Regulations Amendment Disturbance". We strive to ensure the personal safety of mainland graduate students in Hong Kong and escort them for their study and life this year.

This experience of student work made me understand that as a Chinese, we must always keep our roots in mind and always put the interests of the country and the nation in the most important position.

I have been engaged in materials research for nearly seven years. Through my own study and understanding of the industry, I am well aware that in the basic discipline of materials, there is still a big gap between us and developed countries.

In the beginning, several PhD students and I were not completely determined to start a business. To be honest, starting a business is too expensive for a PhD student.

But after the incident of Huawei being sanctioned by the United States, I am very firm in my own entrepreneurial idea-if all the materials science elites are engaged in theoretical research, then who will help our industry upgrade in the future?

I have been in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Cooperation Zone for more than a year. During this year, I have always felt the charm and shock of Shenzhen, a city of science and technology, and also felt the impact of the local government and the cooperation zone. Encouragement and support from our entrepreneurial youth.

When we just stepped into the cooperation zone, the local government department learned that our materials research and development company must be equipped with a laboratory, and actively helped us build the first shared laboratory in the cooperation zone, creating a good experiment for us. And office conditions, let us really feel the speed of Shenzhen and the care for young entrepreneurs.

After more than a year of research and development work, our team has now developed product models that can match the world's first-class chemical brands. While meeting the performance and use requirements of domestic customers, it can also greatly reduce the cost of customers.

At present, there is a talent gap in many industries in our country, and a large number of talents are needed to narrow the gap between us and foreign countries.

I have no hesitation in joining this wave of technological innovation. We sincerely hope that our modest strength can help our country's semiconductor industry and material industry in the future.

I firmly believe that in the future, there will be one technology company like ours springing up like mushrooms, contributing an important force to the rise of our country.

Welcome more Hong Kong talents to settle in Knowledge City like me

Narrator: Peng Haomin, Construction Division, China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Development and Construction Office

Many Hong Kong people who have never been to the mainland think that the mainland has only a rapid development rate and lacks a human touch.

But when you go to various cities in the mainland, you will find that each region has its own unique customs, which is the cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.

I was born in Guangzhou, and my parents working in Hong Kong often send me to live with relatives in Guangzhou.

Therefore, I have witnessed the rapid development of China's economy in the past 20 years.

Guangzhou's tall buildings rise from the ground, and the whole city is full of vitality.

Especially after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, China's economy and science and technology developed rapidly, and it became the second largest economy in the world. This is a manifestation of the capabilities of the Chinese nation.

The country attaches great importance to solving the problems of Hong Kong people's employment and living in the Mainland. The employment environment and housing costs in Guangzhou are very attractive to Hong Kong youth.

After graduating, I chose to take the 2020 Guangdong Provincial Civil Service Examination and became the first batch of Hong Kong civil servants in Guangdong Province.

This has provided me with a very broad and promising development platform, enabling me to shine in the front line of national development and construction.

As a newcomer in the workplace, I am responsible for the supervision of government financial fixed asset investment. At the beginning, I did not understand a lot of things, and my colleagues were very enthusiastic to guide me.

Here, everyone and I are working hard for the development of the country.

Because of work needs, I often collect the progress of various projects in the Knowledge City from the person in charge of the construction unit, and visit various project sites in the Knowledge City to understand. Therefore, I have a deep understanding of the rapid development of the Knowledge City for more than half a year.

Last year, the "Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Master Development Plan (2020-2035)" was approved by the State Council, and Knowledge City has a higher development goal and positioning.

The construction of new transportation infrastructure has broadened the route choice between Knowledge City and the urban area and shortened the travel time between Knowledge City and the urban area.

People's livelihood facilities such as Guangzhou Experimental Middle School and Sun Yat-sen University Tumor Hospital have also been put into use one after another, greatly facilitating the lives of surrounding residents.

From the perspective of urban development, Knowledge City is a very "lively" place.

Hong Kong has a very strong scientific research base and strong R&D strength, but the small market scale and the absence of related industries have become a bottleneck for the development of Hong Kong's local technology industry.

Prior to this, a large number of talents from Hong Kong have brought their technology to the Mainland for development.

At present, the country is fully promoting the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, bringing together the land, resources, industrial chain, and talents of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities. This will further stimulate the innovation vitality of various regions and build the Greater Bay Area into an international top Science and Technology Innovation Center.

For Hong Kong, practitioners in the technology industry can conduct in-depth cooperation with the mainland through the Greater Bay Area, use the land in the mainland and the rapid development of the complete industrial chain to build Hong Kong’s international technology brand, and provide more high-end scientific research talents in Hong Kong. Better employment opportunities.

The Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City where I work is a China-Singapore national-level bilateral cooperation project, an important engine for the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and a window for the Greater Bay Area to open to the outside world.

We welcome enterprises and practitioners in related industries to develop in Knowledge City. The Development and Construction Office of Knowledge City will continue to promote the development of surrounding infrastructure and provide high-quality supporting services for enterprises and talents who settle, work and live in Knowledge City.
