Mid-Autumn National Day "vegetable basket" prices are stable

The Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday are coming one after another. What is the price of the "vegetable basket" products such as vegetables, meat, eggs, melons and fruits that are closely related to people's lives?

Is the supply guaranteed?

Recently, a reporter from the Economic Daily conducted an interview.

Vegetable prices are stable and declining

"Vegetables are in sufficient supply, and prices have changed from rising to falling recently." said Zhang Jing, chief analyst of the vegetable market analysis and early warning team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the national average wholesale price of 28 kinds of vegetables under monitoring was 4.58 yuan/kg in August, up 9.6% month-on-month and down 0.7% year-on-year.

In terms of varieties, the prices of 21 species rose month-on-month, while 7 species fell. Among them, celery and Chinese cabbage rose more.

The main reason for the increase in vegetable prices in August is the severe weather and the change of seasons.

Affected by adverse weather such as large-scale high temperature and rain in the early period and hail in late August, short-term vegetable supply in some areas is not smooth.

Especially in some southern producing areas, leafy vegetables have been affected by disasters and reduced yields and harvests. The supply of leafy vegetables in summer ended ahead of schedule. In the cold and cold areas of the north, the temperature dropped rapidly after the rain and the growth of vegetables slowed down, causing vegetable prices to continue to rise.

In addition, as the weather turns cooler, most varieties gradually enter the crop-changing period, and frequent price fluctuations increase the overall upward range of vegetable prices.

According to reports, the weather improved in September, and the scale of transportation of northern vegetables to the south decreased seasonally. The supply of vegetables that had been delayed in the market gradually resumed, and the amount of local vegetables on the market gradually increased, alleviating the "light summer", and the price of vegetables began to rise. Turn down.

The latest data shows that on September 16, the national average wholesale price of 28 kinds of vegetables under monitoring was 4.53 yuan/kg, down 1.1% month-on-month and 5.2% year-on-year.

Zhang Jing told reporters that vegetable prices are generally high this year, and growers have a strong intention to expand their crops.

The planting area of summer vegetables in the cold northern regions increased year-on-year, and the supply was sufficient in the current season.

After the autumn vegetables are put on the market, especially after the double festival, the price of vegetables will go down seasonally.

Sufficient supply of meat and eggs

"Domestic pork supply is abundant, and prices continue to fall." said Zhu Zengyong, a researcher at the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Due to sufficient supply, national pig prices continued to fall.

From the perspective of weekly prices, the price of live pigs in the 500 bazaars monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs rebounded to 15.93 yuan/kg in the fourth week of July, and then fell again for 7 consecutive weeks, and fell to 14.08 yuan/kg in the second week of September. It was down 3.8% month-on-month and 62% year-on-year.

The price of pork in the fair market monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs rose to 26.34 yuan/kg in the second week of July and then fell for 9 consecutive weeks. By the second week of September, it was 23.91 yuan/kg, down 2.1% month-on-month and 57.3% year-on-year. .

"The current domestic stock of layer hens is about 1.2 billion, which is at the upper-middle level in the same period in previous years. The supply of double-section eggs is guaranteed." said Zhu Ning, an associate researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Judging from the national market supply and demand data in the last one and a half months, the current supply of eggs can effectively meet demand.

Zhu Ning believes that before the National Day, the demand is strong and the supply increases steadily, and the price of eggs will run at a high level.

After the National Day, as the holiday effect weakens, the demand for egg processing will drop significantly, and the price of eggs will fluctuate and drop.

Fruits rose slightly

"In September, the market supply was mainly bulk fruits such as apples, pears, and bananas, supplemented by autumn seasonal fruits such as kiwi, pomegranate, and prunes. The variety of varieties declined slightly compared with summer, but the overall supply was sufficient." Agricultural Information of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Said Zhao Junye, a researcher at the Institute.

As of September 14, the average wholesale price of the six fruits monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in the first half of September was 5.42 yuan/kg, a drop of 2.3% from the previous month.

Last year, the production of pear fruit was reduced due to disasters, and the price was high, and it is still returning to the historical average price range.

This year, Hebei Crown pear, Shandong Qiuyue pear, Xinjiang Korla fragrant pear and other varieties went on the market in large numbers. The output has rebounded from last year, and the variety is abundant, and the land purchase price has an upward trend.

Among them, the top price of Crown pear in August is 5.8 yuan/kg; the opening price of Qiuyue pear reaches 9 yuan/kg; the price of Korla fragrant pear is 4 yuan to 5 yuan/kg.

The soft-seed pomegranate from Sichuan, Yunnan, Henan and other places went on the market one after another.

Soft-seed pomegranate is favored by consumers due to its early maturity, large grains, fresh color, and large fruit size. In recent years, the expansion area has greatly increased, and the price has quickly fallen to half of last year.

Generally speaking, during the double festival period, the supply of melons and fruits across the country is sufficient, and prices are expected to rise slightly.
