Germany remains the only country in Europe where certain sections of the motorway have no speed limit, a feature which is also at the center of debates by environmentalists, who would like to introduce limits in order to limit CO2 emissions.
However, a study by the IW (Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft) has surprisingly proved that 77% of Germans drive at less than 130 km / h on unlimited sections.
Only 12% of motorists travel between 130 and 140 km / h, and very few (less than 1%) go above 160 km / h.
Figures that go against the popular belief that the Germans are driving like crazy on the motorway.
