The Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, will convey in a few minutes to her interlocutors in the social dialogue her proposal to raise the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) by 15 euros from the current 950 as of September 1. This is confirmed by sources familiar with the offer, advanced by the Ser chain, although they are cautious when evaluating it. Díaz's proposal will be announced to employers and unions at the meeting called by Labor to discuss the conditions for the extension of the company and worker protection scheme based on the Temporary Employment Regulation Files (ERTE This scheme expires on September 30.
Vice-president Díaz's proposal supposes ignoring the proposal of the head of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, who last Monday, in an interview on TVE, stated that "the ideal", regarding the increase in the SMI, "is that let us arrive at a clear position in the course of September, so that this increase can already be applied for October, November and December of this year ".
While waiting to know the details of the proposal, the CEOE and Cepyme employers will not support it, since they have repeatedly indicated that it is preferable to wait until 2022 to increase the SMI and thus give an opportunity to consolidate the economic recovery.
Beyond the amount and timing of the increase, the CCOO and UGT unions, for their part, hope to know the details on how much the indicator would rise in 2022, a figure they consider essential to support the proposal.
