In terms of labor relations, it is mentioned that the minimum wage standards and corporate wage guidelines have been adjusted and issued.

In addition, the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Anhui Province issued an announcement in June that it intends to invite tenders for the province's minimum wage adjustment and evaluation project in 2021.

Shandong has recently announced the implementation of the "six stability" and "six guarantees" to promote the fourth batch of policies to promote high-quality development, which clearly stated that the provincial government announced the minimum wage standard by the end of September to ensure the basic livelihood of low-income workers.

What is the impact of raising the minimum wage standard?

It is reported that the minimum wage standard refers to the minimum labor remuneration that the employer should pay according to the law on the premise that the employee provides normal labor during the legal working hours or the working hours agreed in the labor contract signed in accordance with the law.

Professor Sun Zhongwei from the School of Politics and Public Administration of South China Normal University previously told the Sino-Singapore Jingwei Client that the adjustment of the minimum wage directly brings about wage growth, and it mainly promotes wage growth for workers by increasing the basic wages and overtime bases of front-line workers.

In addition, in an era of labor shortage, the minimum wage is too low, which is not conducive to retaining local workers, leading to labor loss.

Provinces are vying for population and labor, and the minimum wage is a very important salary signal.

Liu Tao, a partner of Zhejiang Jingheng (Ningbo) Law Firm and head of the labor law team of words and deeds, told the media that the most direct effect of the increase in the minimum wage standard is that various social security benefits will also be adjusted accordingly.

At the same time, when an employee has a work-related injury or a labor dispute with an enterprise applies for labor arbitration, the increase in the minimum wage standard will also affect the amount of compensation. For example, when calculating work-related injury payments, applying for double wages, economic compensation, and overtime wages, the specific amount involves the person. For wages, if one’s wages are lower than the minimum wage standard, the minimum wage standard shall be used as the base for calculation.
