From 2022 in Russia, maternity benefits, as well as lump-sum payments at the birth of a child for working citizens will be assigned automatically.

This was announced on Monday, September 13, at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

The press service of the department noted that citizens will not need to write applications for these payments.

For the automatic calculation of benefits, the order of interaction between the employer and the Social Insurance Fund (FSS) will change.

“From January 1, 2022, the compulsory formation of a certificate of incapacity for work in the form of an electronic document (electronic certificate of incapacity for work) is fixed.

The assignment and payment of benefits within the framework of compulsory social insurance will be carried out directly by the insurer - the FSS, ”the ministry said.

As explained in the Ministry of Labor, information on the amount of wages, maternity leave will be received by the FSS from the employer, and the fact of the birth of a child - from the information system of the registry office.

Based on these data, the Social Insurance Fund will assign maternity benefits and payments in connection with the birth of a child.

The department separately emphasized that due to the transition to electronic sick leave, the employee will not have to bring the employer any documents to receive sick leave payment.

So, the sick leave number will come directly to the Social Insurance Fund for payment, and also sent to the employer.

“The initiative will have a positive effect on the population, since the transition to electronic document management saves time for both working citizens and employers.

Many issues today are already being resolved in such a proactive mode, and thanks to the system of interdepartmental interaction, employees of enterprises can focus on more important work issues, "Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, said in a conversation with RT.

A similar point of view was expressed by the chief analyst of the TeleTrade Group of Companies Pyotr Pushkaryov.

According to him, the new system for calculating benefits will allow citizens to free up additional time, as a result of which Russians will have the opportunity to focus more on family affairs and taking care of the child instead of going through the courts.

“For society, in any case, it is more profitable if family members are engaged in useful activities instead of collecting certificates once again.

The same, albeit to a lesser extent, applies to the workflow for sick leave.

This is especially true in a pandemic, when employers clearly have more worries associated with the absence of workers due to illness or quarantine measures, "Pushkarev added in an interview with RT.

According to Svetlana Bessarab, due to the innovation, the enterprises will be able to reduce the associated costs to a certain extent.

Moreover, as the deputy emphasized, the transition to electronic document management is a guarantee that families will receive money on time and without delay.

The payment is calculated on the basis of average earnings, scholarships, allowances or the minimum wage (minimum wage).

If a woman officially worked before going on maternity leave, then the amount of payment will be 100% of the average earnings for two years.

Funds are credited to women for the entire period of maternity leave.

For one baby, this is 140 days (70 days before delivery and 70 days after).

For labor with complications and multiple pregnancies, the terms are 156 and 194 days, respectively.
