The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced yesterday the participation of 1,200 companies from 55 countries in the 23rd edition of the “WETEX and Dubai Solar Energy” exhibition, which is organized by the authority during the period from the fifth to the seventh of next October, at the Dubai Exhibition Center, at the site “Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Expo 2020 Dubai,” noting that the 2021 edition of the exhibition extends over an area of ​​29,200 square meters, sponsored by 60 sponsoring institutions, and 10 country pavilions will participate.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO of the authority, president and founder of WETEX and Dubai Solar Energy, said during a press conference to reveal the details of the next session of the WETEX exhibition, that the authority will finish next February a study of a project it is currently working on to produce electricity from energy Wind, with a capacity of 28 megawatts, in the Hatta region, through 14 dedicated towers.

He added that DEWA is currently conducting experiments measuring the actual wind speed in the region, to collect accurate data, study the total capacity for electricity production, and details related to the project.

Al Tayer explained to "Emirates Today" that the total production capacity of clean energy in Dubai currently amounts to 1,300 megawatts, with a rate of up to 10% of the total production capacity of the energy mix in Dubai, pointing out that the total production of clean energy will be raised during the first quarter of this year. Next year, it will reach 1,600 megawatts, by producing 300 megawatts of solar energy.

He stated that the "Projects of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Energy Complex", which are implemented by the authority on the independent product system, are one of the most important tracks of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 75% of the total energy production capacity in Dubai, from clean energy sources by 2050. .

Al Tayer stated that the next session of WETEX will witness a review of new initiatives related to the Space Day project, which aims to build the authority's capabilities and qualify Emirati cadres specialized in the use of space technologies in electricity and water networks, as well as benefiting from technologies The Fourth Industrial Revolution, including the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and “Blockchain” technology, in exchanging information via space communications, and Earth observation technologies.
