K Cube Holdings is an affiliate in which Kakao Board Chairman Kim Beom-soo owns 100% of the shares, and most of the executives and employees are from Chairman Kim's family.

After Chairman Kim, who owns 13.3% of Kakao, he is the second largest shareholder of Kakao with 10.59%.

It was confirmed that the Fair Trade Commission conducted an on-site investigation into K Cube Holdings and Kakao's headquarters last week.

The allegations are that Kakao did not properly report data related to K Cube Holdings to the Fair Trade Commission.

Each year, the Fair Trade Commission receives data such as the stock status of affiliates and debt guarantees from the head of each business group to designate the corporate groups subject to disclosure.

[Park Sang-in/Professor, Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University: It may be due to a mistake, but it is not the first time it is disclosed. I wondered if there was any intentional omission by the company that the head of the company had, like a private company... .]

An FTC official said, "There is a possibility that the market and regulatory agencies may evade monitoring due to omission of reporting.

This is the second time that Kakao is being investigated by the Fair Trade Commission for omission of reporting to its affiliates, and may be prosecuted if intentionality is confirmed.

It is reported that Kakao is rushing to come up with a so-called 'co-prosperity plan' as pressure intensifies from all directions.

Kakao Pay accepted the criticism from the financial authorities and additionally stopped selling some products, such as driver insurance.
