The French
-
language daily
L'Orient-Le Jour
does not mince words.
The
new government
is an "
identical copy of all the old cabinets which, over the years, promised wonders to the Lebanese, but which, in practice, proved incapable of making the slightest change
".
Skeptical, the newspaper underlines that the cabinet counts “
certainly among its members specialists, but practically no independent, and is distinguished by an orphan female presence
”.
France's role in government formation
Al-Akhbar's
verdict
is also final: there is no confidence in the Mikati government, which represents the interests of the system that led to the collapse of the country.
This is what the daily close to Hezbollah writes.
The ministers who are called upon to negotiate with the IMF defend the interests of banks and international financial institutions, adds the newspaper, which points to the role of France in the formation of the government.
A role also highlighted by the daily
Nidaa al-Watan
, which establishes a direct link between the unblocking of negotiations around the formation of the government and the telephone interview between Emmanuel Macron and his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raîssi.
This newspaper, fiercely hostile to Hezbollah, ensures that despite the denials of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, there is indeed a third party blocking in the government and it is Iran which would hold the keys.
