Rau said this during a press conference with the Foreign Ministers of France and Germany Jean-Yves Le Drian and Heiko Maas.

He noted that the Polish side did not change "its opinion regarding the assessment of this investment."

"But, despite the intense discussions on this issue, it was not possible to stop this project, the construction will be completed," TASS quoted him as saying.

Rau added that the focus now needs to be on avoiding potential security risks and divisions in Europe from the pipeline's launch.

The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was fully completed at 08:45 Moscow time on September 10.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the timing of commercial gas supplies via Nord Stream 2 depends on the position of the German regulator.
