From the point of view of Bavaria's Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU), unvaccinated people should no longer have the right to compensation if they have to be in quarantine.

"If the vaccination is reasonable and there are no health reasons against it, then at some point there is no longer any reason that this compensation for loss of earnings will ultimately be paid again by the taxpayer," he said on Thursday evening in the program "Maybrit Illner" on ZDF.

In Bavaria that has already been a total of 83 million euros.

According to the Infection Protection Act, this is currently legally possible, he emphasized.

Not only in Bavaria is there a discussion about not compensating for non-vaccinated loss of earnings from the state that arise due to quarantine.

Baden-Württemberg had already announced this - and according to the Ministry of Health, it can be assumed that everyone will have a vaccination option by September 15.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, this is to be implemented on October 1, as the Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

If someone does not want to be vaccinated against a corona infection, it should "not be at the expense of society," said Holetschek on ZDF.

"We just have to be consistent too."
