"This tax refund experience is'convenient' if it is summarized in two words. Tax refund applications can be processed online. If you don't understand, you can also consult with tax officials via video. The refunded funds will be directly transferred to my bank account in Macau. I don’t need to go to the mainland to open an account.” Macau resident Ms. Feng expressed her feelings about this cross-border tax rebate.
At the end of last month, she paid a stamp duty of 120 yuan through the cross-border RMB UnionPay electronic tax payment method. Later, because of the cancellation of the transaction contract, she needed to apply for a cross-border tax refund.
According to the Guangdong Provincial Taxation Bureau, the cross-border renminbi tax rebate is a tax rebate method first introduced in Hengqin by the bureau and the Guangzhou branch of the People’s Bank of China to facilitate Macau and other overseas non-resident taxpayers.
Taxpayers abroad can apply for tax refunds through the electronic tax bureau website or the V-Tax remote self-service taxation platform. After the taxation department examines and approve them, a tax income refund form will be issued and sent to the treasury for refund procedures. The treasury transfers the tax refund funds to tax payment through domestic commercial banks. If you designate an overseas account, the taxpayer can receive the tax refund.
