Metz is the French city of more than 50,000 inhabitants having recorded the largest increase in property prices between August 2020 and August 2021 with an increase of 18.9%, indicates the latest edition of the LPI-SeLoger barometer relayed by Lorraine Actu .

On average, it is now necessary to pay 2,648 euros per square meter to acquire real estate in the prefecture of Moselle.

Quality of life, attractive job market and proximity to Paris

The interest that the city arouses among buyers can be explained in part by the quality of life it offers to its inhabitants.

The job market is also dynamic and Paris is only 1h23 by train.

The health crisis linked to the coronavirus also played a role.

Many French people have left the large metropolises to turn to smaller municipalities.

On the podium for the most spectacular price increases, Metz is ahead of Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne) and Vannes (Morbihan).

These last two cities saw an increase in the average price per square meter of 17.4 and 17.3% respectively.
