The General Manager of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, Kees Van Shik, said that all indicators confirm a significant increase in demand for travel to the UAE during the last quarter of this year, supported by the organization of the Expo 2020 Dubai, and the increase in vaccination rates against the Corona virus. In addition, the UAE has become a favorite destination for Europeans and other tourists during the winter season, especially for entertainment purposes, with warm weather and bright sunshine, which raises the levels of European tourism significantly.

Shake added, on the sidelines of the press conference held by the company in Abu Dhabi yesterday, on the occasion of the start of flights between Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, that "(Wizz Air Abu Dhabi) is preparing for the high demand for travel to the UAE during the winter by increasing the number of destinations to 10 destinations next October, and operating more of flights, especially from eastern and central Europe, to double the number of destinations to 20 destinations by the end of next December, in addition to adding two new aircraft to its modern fleet.”

He added that with the passage of time and the increase in high vaccination rates, all travel restrictions will be gradually eased and removed, which helps to make travel easier, and leads to a significant increase in the number of travelers during the coming period, especially since some travelers are still reluctant to travel and have not traveled since the beginning of « the pandemic.”

The Director General of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi confirmed that operating flights to Bahrain is an important step for the carrier, as it is its first destination in the Arab Gulf region after easing travel restrictions to it, noting that it is scheduled to start operating flights between Abu Dhabi and the Sultanate of Oman next October, and that Operating flights to Kuwait is part of the company's future plans, but the matter depends on the timing of easing travel restrictions further.
