According to the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Distribution Corporation, the average retail price of 100 g of perilla leaves as of yesterday was 3,052 won, up 61.3% from the previous month.

100g weighs about 5 bundles of 10 perilla leaves, but it is more expensive than the 2,691 won price of 100g of refrigerated pork belly in Korea on the same day.

The price of lettuce, the same leafy vegetable, also rose by nearly 38% compared to last month, and the price of major vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, water parsley, and zucchini also jumped by 30% to more than 100%.

The

sharp rise in

vegetable prices is largely due to the eve of Chuseok, and the recent fall rainy season has made the

price increase even greater.

The burden on the self-employed and consumers is growing, and experts believe that vegetable prices will gradually stabilize after the Chuseok holiday.

Netizens said, "I'll wrap sesame leaves with meat like this and eat it. My belly button is bigger than my stomach!”, “Can’t you eat sesame leaf jeon this Chuseok? Should I plant it myself right now? ?” showed a reaction.
