Emirates NBD recorded a growth of 15% in the number of transactions, and 17% in the value of money transfers made by customers through its digital platform for direct transfer in 60 seconds, "DirectRemit", during the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period last year. .

The bank stated in a statement yesterday that, as a result of the “Covid-19” pandemic, which continues to push customers’ adoption of digital banking transactions, the “DirectRemit” platform’s customer base witnessed a growth of 10% between January and August of 2021, compared to the same period in 2020. He explained that the growth in the number of transactions and rates of use of the platform is due to the increasing tendency of customers to prefer contactless transactions, and the availability of digital channels for access to banking services and payments around the clock.

"In light of the accelerating trend of consumers to adapt to the current situation, digitization has become an essential means of accessing banking services," said Marwan Hadi, Executive Vice President and Head of Retail Banking in the UAE for Emirates NBD.

It is noteworthy that during the pandemic, the digital transfer platform continued to meet the needs of customers without the need to visit bank branches or transfer companies, in addition to avoiding the use of cash, and as part of the bank’s continuous efforts to improve the quality of services and products it provides, the “DirectRemit” platform has become available. Outside banking hours to make instant transfers to major partner banks around the clock.
