In order to alleviate the congestion of the Shinkansen, which is concentrated during summer vacation, JR companies are considering introducing a new system in the spring of next year that will change the fare for reserved seats on the Shinkansen more than it is now. I understand.

Regarding the limited express fare for reserved seats on the Shinkansen, JR companies are currently setting a fare that is 200 yen higher during the busy season and 200 yen lower during the off-season than the normal fare.

However, under the current fare setting, Shinkansen users are concentrated in the busy seasons such as summer vacation and the year-end and New Year holidays, and how to alleviate congestion is an issue.

Regarding this, JR East President Yuji Fukasawa said at a regular press conference on the 7th that JR companies are planning to introduce a new system that will change the price of reserved seats on the Shinkansen more than now every season in the spring of next year. I made it clear that I am considering it.

Details such as the specific fluctuation range will be squeezed in the future, and if it is introduced, the price will be higher than before during the busy season, but it will be cheaper during the off-season.

In addition, JR East is considering introducing a commuter pass in the Tokyo metropolitan area where the fare will be cheaper if you avoid the rush hour of commuting, and we plan to diversify the number of users through such efforts.

President Fukasawa of JR East said, "The situation of'with corona', which requires avoidance of congestion, will continue for a while, so I would like to introduce the system as soon as possible."
