Emirates Airlines announced yesterday that it transported 1.2 million passengers through its hub during last July and August, compared to 402 thousand passengers during the same period in 2020, confirming the safe and smooth resumption of international travel to and from Dubai.

And Emirates Airlines said in a statement that it carried 15.8 million passengers as the largest global carrier in terms of international passenger traffic, according to the latest figures of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The carrier stated that since Dubai reopened its doors to international visitors, it continues to resume its services through its global network and flight schedules, from a few cities in July 2020, to more than 120 destinations currently, in addition to more flights that will be launched on more than 20 Emirates Airlines routes by next October.

Emirates Airlines noted that these investments have enabled it, over the past 12 months, to facilitate the resumption of travel safely and enhance the customer experience, as it began in 2019, testing and applying biometric technology (biometrics) at various points of contact for the customer journey through the airport, and that Last year, it launched the fast-track biometric technology.

The carrier indicated that it currently operates more than 30 biometric cameras at its hub at Dubai International Airport, including at the check-in counters, at the entrances to the first and business class lounges and some boarding gates.

She pointed out that since implementation, more than 58,000 customers have used the convenient and secure contactless verification option to access Emirates lounges, and more than 380,000 customers have used biometric gates to join their flights.

Use of biometric channels

Emirates Airlines confirmed that it is witnessing an increase in the choice of customers to use its biometric channels since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, and it plans to expand the number of boarding gates equipped with biometric scanning devices.

The carrier stated that it is cooperating with various relevant authorities at Dubai International Airport, including the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs team, to reactivate the smart gates that enable eligible travelers to cross passport control points upon arrival and departure within seconds using a new contactless technology.
