Apple likes to describe its app store as the engine of an economic miracle.

The group argues that the platform has brought incredible wealth to outside software developers.

This is by no means wrong, but it is also a very distorted representation.

In fact, the other way around, Apple is also dependent on the apps, because they are what make an iPhone into an all-rounder device. Developers should therefore be able to expect give and take in relation to Apple. But they complain louder and louder and not without justification that the bill is too one-sided in favor of Apple. This means that they are increasingly being heard. Regulators and politicians are increasing the pressure on the company more and more. A law has just been passed in South Korea to force Apple to relax its restrictions, other countries could follow suit.

Apple has recently been forced to make a number of concessions to accommodate its developers. The changes are not yet dramatic and the basic business model still remains intact. But the group obviously senses that it has to act. He must fear that his app store empire will crumble.
