To this end, the China Consumers Association and the China Institute of Information and Communications Technology, the Tyre Laboratory, issued a consumer reminder: Beware of the hidden safety hazards caused by the old and inferior charging data cables.

  According to the China Consumers Association, according to analysis and research, some old and inferior charging data cables have the following risks:

Easy to overload, cause short circuit, poor flame retardancy, and potential fire hazard

  Old and inferior charging data cables are prone to damage, short-circuits, etc., such as overload during use, resulting in a rapid temperature rise, and the insulating layer will enter a molten state.

The flame-retardant performance of such inferior charging data cables is generally poor. If there are flammable and combustible materials such as wooden tables and chairs, curtains, books and papers nearby, it is easy to cause a fire hazard.

  The Tyre laboratory purchased a charging data cable with a package of 8.8 yuan on an online shopping platform for testing. It was found that the charging cable was of poor quality, short-circuited during the charging process, and the temperature was too high. Flame was applied to the wire and the skin insulation layer was applied. It burns quickly and basically does not have flame retardant properties.

Perform a comparative test on a charging data cable with excellent performance and place it in a flame of the same power to burn for 15 seconds. After the flame is evacuated, the afterflame will extinguish within a few seconds or tens of seconds.

Durability and poor cable bending performance may damage the internal structure of the phone

  The old and inferior charging data cable also has the problem of poor durability. It is likely to be disconnected between the contact points, causing short-circuit, charging overload and other problems, causing the phone to fail to charge normally, even damaging the internal structure of the phone, and causing data corruption.

  Some consumers reported that after using the charging data cable several times, the charging cable interface on both sides was obviously damaged.

In the bending experiment, all functions of a good charging data cable are normal after swinging 1000 times from side to side under a load of 500g.

The plug and unplug experiment was performed again, and the plug and socket were repeatedly inserted/unplugged for 10,000 cycles at a rate of 500 cycles per hour. The charging data line functions normally, and the appearance is not damaged.

Poor corrosion resistance, may burn the interface

  Salt spray corrosion is a common atmospheric corrosion, and a good data cable should be resistant to salt spray corrosion.

The exposed metal parts of the old and inferior charging data cables have poor corrosion resistance. Long-term exposure to the air may rust and corrode, causing the temperature to be too high during the charging process and burning the interface.

  Through the comparison of the salt spray experiment, the Thiel laboratory found that the two ends of the old and inferior charging data cable have been corroded after being placed in the salt spray environment for a certain period of time, while the high-quality charging data cable is intact.

  The China Consumers Association and the China Institute of Information and Communications Technology Tell Laboratory reminded to avoid using old, inferior charging data lines.

Consumers should judge whether the data cable has been aging through appearance observation, charging response speed and charging success rate. Once the performance is found to be degraded or aging, they should be replaced in time; do not buy a charging data cable for cheap, be sure to choose the standard and professional certification It is best to use the standard charging data cable.
