China News Service, Beijing, August 30 (Reporter Du Yan) On the 29th, the reporter learned from Beijing's commerce department that from January to July this year, Beijing's imports and exports amounted to RMB 1,685.39 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26.9%.

Among them, exports were 349.92 billion yuan and imports were 1335.47 billion yuan. The scales of imports and exports and exports reached historical highs, increasing by 26.9% and 23.2% year-on-year respectively.

The scale of import and export hit a record high

Currently, the epidemic is still spreading around the world, and the external environment for foreign trade development is still complicated. Beijing has adopted various measures to "stabilize foreign trade". Especially this year, the foreign trade in Beijing has recovered more than expected, and the scale of imports and exports and exports have reached the highest levels in the same period in history. The growth rate has exceeded the national monthly growth rate for five consecutive months.

Among them, the scale of exports exceeded a quarter of the same period in 2019, and imports returned to the level of the same period in 2019, and the growth rate continued to surpass the national by 3.5 percentage points (the city's imports increased by 27.9%).

In July, imports and exports amounted to 260.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.4%.

Among them, exports were 56.67 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 57.9%, 2.4 times the national growth rate; the import structure continued to be optimized, and the year-on-year growth exceeded the national growth rate by 1.2 percentage points.

Imports amounted to RMB 203.39 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.6%.

Imports of high-tech mechanical and electrical products are growing rapidly

In the first half of the year, the strong recovery of the Beijing market drove imports. In particular, imported high-tech products met production needs and provided support for the promotion of internal circulation. At the same time, the supply of high-precision products was further released.

The import of mechanical and electrical products was 261.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.2%.

Imports of high-tech products amounted to 107.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.9%.

Among them, the import of measurement, detection and analysis automatic control instruments and integrated circuits (chips) increased by 6.7% and 29.7% respectively year-on-year, laying the foundation for the export of electromechanical products and high-precision equipment.

The export of high-precision equipment is swift and violent

In the first half of the year, the export of high-tech industries in Beijing was rapid.

Exports of high-tech products amounted to 114.24 billion yuan, an increase of 83.3% year-on-year, accounting for 39.0% of Beijing’s exports, an increase of 14 percentage points over the same period last year and an increase of 19 percentage points over the same period in 2019.

The export growth rate of high-tech products has more than doubled in the country (23.4% nationwide).

The scale of high-tech products exceeded 20 billion yuan in a single month in July, achieving six consecutive rises and setting new highs.

At the same time, the growth of Beijing's "dual independent" enterprises is gratifying.

There are 850 independent enterprises in Beijing, and many of them have maintained double-digit growth in exports. The main products include LCD panels, mobile phones, vehicles, and technological security equipment.

The optimization and upgrading of Beijing’s export commodity structure is a concrete manifestation of the easing of non-capital functions, the construction of a "high-precision" economic structure, and the construction of a national science and technology innovation center.

More diversified international market layout

In the first half of the year, the import and export of all continents in the Beijing area achieved growth, and the foreign trade situation with major economic and trade organizations continued to improve.

Among them, exports to the Middle East, ASEAN, APEC, and the European Union increased by 42.4%, 20.7%, 17.2%, and 5.1% respectively year-on-year.

At the same time, the Beijing region's trade with the US rebounded strongly, with bilateral imports and exports of 143.65 billion yuan, an increase of 120.9% year-on-year, accounting for 10.1% of the total import and export value of the Beijing region during the same period.

The United States has once again become the largest trading partner in Beijing.

In addition, the trade of countries along the “Belt and Road” quickly picked up. The bilateral trade volume was 556.45 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.1%, an improvement of 6 percentage points from the previous month, and accounting for 39.1% of the total import and export volume.

Imports and exports to emerging markets have grown well. Among them, exports from Latin America increased by 92.3%, accounting for more than 10% of the total exports in Beijing during the same period.

Focus on cultivating new growth points

Beijing’s new kinetic energy platform for foreign trade continues to grow, and multiple measures are taken to promote the export of medical technology and anti-epidemic materials. By helping companies to apply for a “white list”, they can promptly solve the problems encountered by ventilators and mask companies in the export; hold an “epidemic prevention product online promotion” "Meetings", inviting representatives of chambers of commerce and friendship associations from 29 countries and regions around the world to promote Beijing’s 100 types of anti-epidemic material export commodities; relying on ICBC’s "Global Matchmaking" cross-border matchmaking platform to hold the city’s foreign trade import and export line including the topic of anti-epidemic materials Shanghai Fair (Southeast Asia/South Asia special session) to promote exports to the ASEAN region.

In the first half of the year, Beijing exported 37.91 billion yuan of medical materials, a year-on-year increase of 1243%.

Beijing's vaccines, masks, ventilators, security inspection machines and other scientific and technological anti-epidemic materials are providing anti-epidemic protection for the world.
