At the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce today, in response to media questions about the process of Sino-US economic and trade consultations, the spokesperson Gao Feng said that the Sino-US economic and trade teams maintain normal communication.

Gao Feng said that in the first seven months of this year, bilateral trade in goods between China and the United States increased by 40% year-on-year. Among them, China's imports from the United States increased by 50.4% year-on-year, and exports to the United States increased by 36.9%.

This fully demonstrates that the economies of the two countries are highly complementary and that bilateral economic and trade cooperation is in the interests of the two countries and their peoples.

Gao Feng emphasized that the Chinese side always believes that the additional tariffs imposed by the United States are not good for China, not good for the United States, and not good for the recovery of the world economy.
