According to the Japan Food Service Association, last month's sales of major restaurant chains nationwide increased 2.1% from the same month last year, the fourth consecutive month of increase.



By type of business, fast food sales increased by 8.6% from last year due to strong take-out and home-delivery sales for people watching the Tokyo Olympics at home, but family restaurants are 6.5 while the suspension of alcoholic beverages continues. It decreased by 3%, and pubs and taverns also decreased by 38.5%.



In addition, compared to July, before the spread of the new coronavirus, fast food increased by more than 3%, while Femily restaurants decreased by more than 28% and pubs and taverns decreased by 70%. The polarization is clear.



According to the Japan Food Service Association, "The expansion of the area covered by the state of emergency is expected to continue to have a major impact on businesses that mainly eat and drink in stores such as izakaya."
