The labor court in Berlin has forbidden the service union ver.di by interim decision to continue the strike that began in the morning at Vivantes Netzwerk für Gesundheit GmbH for the time being.

This was announced by the court in Berlin.

A strike can only be carried out in hospitals if the medical care of the patients is ensured in emergencies. This has not yet been guaranteed, according to a statement from the Berlin judicial authorities. The strike measures are therefore to be refrained from until a decision has been taken on Vivantes' application to prohibit the strike. The court set a date for the hearing on Tuesday.

The employees of the state hospitals Vivantes and Charité went on strike early Monday morning.

"There are between 30 and over 100 employees at the door at all locations," said Meike Jäger, negotiator at ver.di.

The union had called for a work stoppage.

More talks about an emergency service agreement with the two clinics are planned until noon, said Jäger.

The same conditions for all employees

The union is fighting, among other things, for an equalization of working conditions for all employees, including in the subsidiaries. It is also about a collective agreement that defines a minimum number of staff for wards and areas. It should also contain regulations on the equalization of burdens in the event that these collective bargaining requirements are not complied with. In addition, employees of Vivantes subsidiaries want to receive the full collective wage of the public service. The strike is said to last until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday.
