Almost everyone has secrets - some weigh lighter, others heavier.

Of course, this also applies to the relationship with the partner.

Because not all couples speak openly about money.

According to a non-representative survey by the Internet portal Verivox together with the online partner agency Parship, for example, around a third of the participants withhold from their regular partner what they earn.

A good 3800 men and women aged 18 and over who were looking for a partner through Parship were asked about their behavior in their last long-term relationship.

Such things are likely to make life planning together at least more difficult, if you consider classics such as spending on shopping, renting, traveling or perhaps a car. More than half of the respondents stated that they did not talk openly about their own money and other assets. One sixth, on the other hand, even shares sensitive information such as the PIN on bank cards with their life partner. A little less do this with the access data for the online account. And about a third talk about loans.

The reasons for the behavior were not asked. Older people tended to be more open about their own finances. And if, for example, a third of the respondents keep silent about their own income, that also means that two thirds are more open. Some secretive people might at least wonder whether a lack of trust might be a reason why they are still looking for a partner for life. Nevertheless, everything just takes time. But if the relationship breaks up at the latest, it would probably be time for some of those willing to communicate to change PIN & Co, otherwise it could quickly become expensive.
