Take it step by step

“Changing your job from the inside is a process that is just as delicate and deserves as much attention as changing companies. Again, no need to be radical, and to change at all. You can do as Sophie Menez who first developed her project alongside her work, the time to formalize a concrete action plan. She then trained, she asked to dedicate 20% of her working time to it, then 50% and finally 100%. Here again, listen to yourself: some personalities will want things to happen more quickly, others will appreciate these different levels which allow you to test your idea, your new job, to check that it can work, and especially since this is what you want to do.Because there can be a fantasy between the image of the intrapreneur (the entrepreneur within a company) and what the job really consists of on a daily basis. ”

Show diplomacy 

“When you start a business, you have to listen to yourself, of course, but also listen to your business and the people who make it up! You are not the only master on board, as in classic entrepreneurship. This has considerable advantages (you have a fixed salary, a structure that can support you, services, infrastructure available, etc.), but of course you also have to deal with your entourage. It depends a lot on the corporate culture and the structure put in place: some companies have outright internalized support programs for intrapreneurship, in others you have to go knock on the door of your manager, and hope that that works. In this case, be diplomatic and do not come up against the idea of ​​radically changing jobs by asking for funding.Put yourself in the place of the person in front of you, his constraints, his problems. A good technique is to start by asking him for his opinion, his perspective on your project. This allows him to be interested in the subject without feeling his back to the wall. ”

Trust yourself 

“Having an entrepreneurial desire in your business is in any case beneficial, both for yourself and for the company.

It is adopting a new posture, it is trying to find new solutions to problems.

Whether this project sees the light of day or not, you will have developed this entrepreneurial mindset, and whatever happens you will have learned a lot: so trust your instincts, and at worst… it works! ”
