French fries have disappeared from some Korean fast food restaurants, such as McDonald's and Kyochon Chicken.

This is because the raw materials for french fries were not supplied in time due to global shipping logistics difficulties.

According to the food service industry, McDonald's has been offering McNuggets or cheese sticks instead of french fries when an order for a burger set with french fries is ordered from some stores since the 2nd.

Kyochon Chicken also temporarily stopped selling set menus containing potato wedges this month.

An official from Kyochon Chicken explained, “The supply of potatoes is not smooth due to unstable sea transportation.

Lotteria suffered a fries shortage two months ago.

A Lotteria official said, "At that time, freight logistics costs increased significantly, causing disruptions in the supply of French fries, and now it is normalized."

The French fries used in major fast food restaurants in Korea are mainly imported frozen from the United States.

However, as the global economy is recovering recently, shipping volume has surged, which has had an impact on French fries, which are almost 100% dependent on imports.

An official from a restaurant company explained that the domestic supply and demand situation also differs slightly from company to company because American companies that import each company are different.
