Investor Lars Windhorst has transferred the last million installment to the Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC.

"The last agreed tranche of 30 million euros was transferred to Hertha BSC today," wrote Windhorst on Friday on his Twitter account.

Since 2019 he has invested 375 million euros in the club.

“I stand by my word - and will continue to stand by the Herthaners in the future,” affirmed the controversial investor.

The Big City Club

In the past few months there had been repeated reports of problems processing payments by Windhorst's Tennor Group.

These were rejected by both the investor and Hertha BSC, but intermittent communication problems in the cooperation were admitted.

A tranche that had been agreed for the end of June was received a few days late.

Windhorst then wrote on Twitter: "To everyone who had doubts: The money came into the Hertha account - 35 million euros." He commented on the speculation about possible payment difficulties with the words: "Much ado about nothing."

The entrepreneur holds 66.6 percent of Hertha BSC GmbH & Co. KGaA through his investment. In the long term, the 44-year-old would like to use his financial resources to lead Hertha into the Champions League and establish the capital city club as an international brand. The term he coined, the Big City Club, had also led to controversial discussions within the club.
