The price of electricity has once again exceeded its historical maximum price for the third consecutive day after settling at
113.99 euros / MWh for August 11, 2021
, according to OMIE.
The figure represents an increase of 1.88% compared to the 111.88 euros on Tuesday, which had already been 4.8% more expensive than the hitherto all-time high of 106.74 euros on Monday.
This means that the average price of electricity in the wholesale market increases by 190.27% compared to the equivalent day of last year, the second Wednesday of the month, when

per megawatt hour
were paid
.
August has already recorded
four of the five most expensive days in history
;
the fourth position is occupied by the 106.57 euros that were reached on July 21, in what was then the highest price to date.
That day, a nearly 20-year-old record was broken.
Electricity market price August 2021
Throughout the day there will be several peak sections over 120 euros (the maximum will be 125.01 at 22:00) and only at 04:00, when the cost of electricity will be 99.48 euros per megawatt hour, it will be below 100.
The rise also represents a slight increase in the average price this month, which is on track to be the most expensive in history.

97.67 euros per day
despite the respite that supposed the four days (1, 6, 7 and 8) of August in which the three-digit barrier was not exceeded and there were prices of between 65, 64 and 97.22 euros.
The 93.46 euros / MWh in July were 169.8% higher than the same month last year, while in August 2020 the 46.25 euros on the 27th was never exceeded and the average price of electricity was 36 , 19 euros.
