While the state has opened the floodgates during the most difficult hours of the health crisis, the time now seems to have come to tighten the screws and reduce the pushes.

Like many other sectors, that of the automobile paid the price on July 1, with the reduction in the scale of the ecological bonus.

Are you planning to buy a new car by the end of the year?

Here are the conditions to be met to benefit from public aid until December 31, 2021.

From 1,000 to 6,000 euros bonus

Faced with the high cost of a clean vehicle - it takes between 20,000 and 30,000 euros to afford a city car or an electric or hybrid sedan - any financial support is welcome to lower the bill. At the heart of the health crisis, you could take advantage of an envelope reaching up to 7,000 euros to pay for your new vehicle. But the finance law for 2021 had planned to change the situation at the start of the summer season.

Since July 1, the ecological bonus is therefore limited to 6,000 euros for the purchase of a new 100% electric vehicle emitting less than 20 g of CO2 / km, within the limit of 27% of the acquisition cost. Likewise, the aid goes from 3,000 to 2,000 euros as soon as the selling price of the car is between 45,000 and 60,000 euros. Beyond this ceiling, only light utility vehicles and vehicles that run on hydrogen can claim this little boost. As for the financial support granted for plug-in hybrid models, it goes from 2,000 to 1,000 euros. To be eligible, remember that the car must have a CO2 level of less than 50 g for a range of more than 50 km and be sold new for less than 50,000 euros. And a new turn of the screw is planned in 2022.

However, the additional bonus of 1,000 euros granted for Overseas France in each of these cases is retained.

Finally, 1,000 euros of aid are also granted throughout the national territory for the second-hand purchase of a 100% electric vehicle registered for more than two years.
