However, the young British company Page-Roberts has just patented a concept of vertical batteries placed in the center of the car, transversely. According to the startup, the advantages are numerous: besides the fact that it is now possible to improve the aerodynamics of cars since it is possible to lower the roof, this architecture makes it possible to center the masses and to integrate the batteries. as structural elements. Page-Roberts also argues that the virtues of its creation will allow cars to consume less and above all will limit production costs by around 30%, a factor that would allow the democratization of the electric car. However, there are still some drawbacks:the central batteries take up space and create a separation between the front and rear seats, which undermines the modularity of the cars. Their power and therefore their size is also a brake. While waiting for a possible realization, this idea deserves in any case that the manufacturers are interested in it.
