Forbes Middle East revealed the list of 40 women who made Middle Eastern brands for the year 2021, pointing out that the list includes women entrepreneurs in the fields of beauty and fashion, jewelry, accessories, handbags, and shoes.

Forbes Middle East reported that the list was prepared based on celebrity support for the brand, number of followers on social media, number of countries covered by the brand, media coverage, and years of experience.

According to Forbes, the UAE topped the list with 15 brands headquartered in the country, followed by Egypt with eight brands, and then Lebanon with seven brands.

"Huda Beauty"

According to Forbes Middle East, two Iraqi-American sisters, Huda and Mona Kattan, who founded Huda Beauty, a multi-million dollar beauty product brand based in Dubai, ranked first in the list.

The company started its business as a beauty blogger in 2010, while Huda Kattan ranked 47th in the Forbes list of America's richest self-made women for 2020, with a net worth of $510 million on October 13, 2020. The brand's annual sales were estimated at $250 million.

The list also includes other brands that have proven their position, such as the fashion brand (Reem Acra), which came in second place, and the jewelry brand (Azza Fahmy Jewelery), which came in third place.

Top Emirati

The list also highlighted the women founders and co-creators of the most successful platforms and applications in the region, through the (10Women Behind Middle Eastern Tech Brands) list of 10 women who made tech brands in the Middle East, evaluated based on the volume of funding rounds, and revenue.

Thanks to its attractive commercial scene, and the ease of doing business in it, the UAE once again tops the list of technology brands with eight participations, followed by Saudi Arabia with two participations.

The 10 startups raised a total of more than $120 million in funding.

The e-commerce platform Mumzworld, founded by Palestinian entrepreneurs, Mona Ataya and Lina Khalil, ranked first, raising more than $50 million from a total of five funding rounds.

It is currently in the process of being acquired by the Saudi Tamer Group, after its approval of the deal in June 2021. It is one of the largest exits ever for a startup entirely founded by women in the Middle East.

Sarah Toukan also co-founded Ziina, the newest technology company on the list, and raised about $7.5 million in the latest funding round, bringing its total funding to more than $8.6 million so far.

• Huda and Mona Kattan, founders of the beauty product brand Huda Beauty, top the list, with annual sales estimated at $250 million.
