At the peak of the domestic reporting season, the German stock index Dax hardly moves.

The leading German index opened on Thursday at 15,684 percent.

"The stock exchanges still lack a clear trend," said analyst Jochen Stanzl from the online broker CMC Markets.

"The indices float along calmly in summer, while many investors have been waiting for weeks for a stronger correction, which is precisely why it is not coming."

In terms of individual values, Adidas lost 3.6 percent, although the sporting goods manufacturer had raised its targets for the year as a whole.

The reason for the sales is the weak business in China, whose recovery is currently not in sight, wrote the analysts at Bank Credit Suisse.

Western fashion companies are partially boycotted by consumers in the People's Republic because of their criticism of human rights violations by the government in Beijing.

On the other hand, things went up for Lufthansa, whose shares rose 2.2 percent.

The airline has reduced the loss in line with expectations, commented analyst Gerald Khoo of the investment bank Liberum.

The increasing number of passengers formed the basis for a further recovery in business in the current quarter.

The bookings are also positive.
