  The industry keeps running at a high level

  The growth rate of the industry has returned to rationality.

In the first half of the year, the total business volume and business income of the postal industry were 642.47 billion yuan and 614.39 billion yuan, an increase of 34.4% and 22.2% respectively, an increase of more than 10 percentage points over the same period of the previous year.

Among them, the express business volume and revenue completed 49.39 billion pieces and 484.21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 45.8% and 26.6%, respectively, and the growth rate was more than twice that of the same period last year.

Affected by the low base factor during the epidemic period last year, the development of the industry showed a trend of "high in the front and low in the back, gradually returning".

  The growth rate of postal delivery business slowed down.

In the first half of the year, the postal delivery business volume and business revenue were 12.81 billion pieces and 19.31 billion yuan, respectively. Business volume increased by 0.5% year-on-year, and business revenue fell by 10.5% year-on-year.

The business volume of letters, parcels, foreign exchange, newspapers and magazines decreased by 24.2%, 7.4%, 31.5%, 1.6% and 3.6% respectively year-on-year.

  The increase in express delivery reached a new high.

In the first half of the year, the net increase of express delivery business was 15.51 billion pieces, an increase of 9.39 billion pieces over the same period of the previous year.

The monthly net increase from April to June was 2 billion, 1.84 billion, and 2.27 billion, respectively. The monthly increase of 2 billion has become the new normal.

The business volume in June was 9.74 billion, exceeding the peak of the previous year. Except for February, the monthly scale was around 9 billion.

E-commerce has intensive promotion, the promotion period is lengthened, and the monthly distribution is more balanced.

It is used more frequently, with an average of 640 million daily service users in the industry.

In the first half of the year, the number of express mails used per capita was 35, an increase of 11 from the same period last year.

  Continuous improvement of business structure

  Expanded postal service functions.

The postal and express cooperating in village promotion has newly covered 21,000 organic villages, with a coverage rate of 16.4%.

Serving the revitalization of rural areas, 9318 postal and Tesco sites were newly added, and the sales of special agricultural products reached 6.57 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 78.7%, and 970,000 rural residents increased their income by 1.18 billion yuan.

The construction of a comprehensive postal service platform has been accelerated. The government and postal cooperation has completed the establishment of three-level government affairs halls or connection of government affairs systems across the country.

  The proportion of off-site express delivery business increased.

In the first half of the year, driven by the accelerated shift of consumption to online, the integration of warehouse and distribution, and the development of emerging e-commerce, the off-site express delivery business volume completed 41.84 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 52.2%, which was 6.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of express delivery business. The proportion of all express delivery services reached 84.7%, an increase of 3.6 percentage points year-on-year, and the contribution rate to the overall growth of express delivery services reached 92.5%.

The growth rate of intra-city express business continued to pick up. In the first half of the year, intra-city express business volume was 6.46 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 14.9% and an increase of 4.3 percentage points from the same period last year.

  International express delivery business has developed rapidly.

In the first half of the year, the international/Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan express delivery business volume completed 1.09 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 43.1%, and business revenue completed 61.38 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.2%.

Postal and express delivery companies have gradually recovered their import and export of postal (express) items. Among them, the volume of exported items increased by 41.7% year-on-year, and the volume of imported items increased by 50.6% year-on-year.

Export postal (express) items are mainly concentrated in Europe, accounting for more than 50%, and imported postal (express) items are mainly concentrated in Asia, accounting for more than 60%.

  Regional structure continues to be optimized

  The proportion of express delivery business in Central China continued to increase.

In the first half of the year, the proportion of express delivery business in the eastern, central and western regions was 78.6%, 14.2% and 7.2%, respectively, and the proportion of business revenue was 78.5%, 12.7% and 8.8% respectively.

Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery business and business revenue in the central region increased by 1.6 and 1.2 percentage points respectively.

The contribution rate of Guangdong and Zhejiang in the eastern region to national growth was 48.2%.

The growth rate of express delivery business in Hubei, Jiangxi and Henan in the central region exceeded 60% year-on-year, and the growth rates were all among the top five.

Chengyu in the western region remained relatively stable.

  The growth rate of urban express delivery continued to diverge.

The proportion of express delivery business in provincial capital cities continued to decline. In the first half of the year, the total express business volume of 31 provincial capital cities increased by 39.3% year-on-year, which was 6.

Among them, 11 cities failed to make the top 50 in the country.

From the perspective of the top 10 cities, Beijing fell 3 places and ranked 9th, Jieyang rose 1 place, and Dongguan rose 2 places.

Except for the top 10 cities, the gap between cities is relatively small, and the competitiveness of urban express delivery is in the cultivation stage.

  Market competition continues to intensify

  Market concentration has declined.

In the first half of the year, the express and parcel service brand concentration index CR8 was 80.8, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3 and a decrease of 0.9 from the same period in 2019.

The growth rate of top brands continues to diverge, second- and third-tier brands continue to clear, and new entrant brands grow rapidly.

The investment and financing of express companies have become more frequent, and the investment of leading companies has increased, mainly focusing on transportation capacity and the construction of industrial parks (processing centers), and the trend of heavy capitalization has been solidified.

  Express delivery prices run at low prices.

In the first half of the year, the overall average unit price of express delivery was 9.8 yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 13.1%.

Among them, the average unit price of inter-city express delivery dropped the fastest, down 17.7% year-on-year, and the intra-city and international unit prices decreased by 6.1% and 7% respectively. The average unit price of inter-city express continued to be lower than the average unit price of the same city.

However, in the month of June, the average unit price in the same city, in different places and internationally increased by 0.11 yuan, 0.16 yuan and 1.9 yuan respectively from the previous month. Among them, the remote unit price rebounded significantly, with a month-on-month increase of 2.8%, and the downward trend of the average unit price of express delivery was curbed.

  Accelerated advancement of key projects

  "Express delivery into the village" is advancing rapidly.

Postal express companies have taken multiple measures to extend their service network to help accelerate the upward trend of agricultural products.

Many successful models of high-quality and sustainable operation have emerged in the process of promotion in various places.

Some regions have formed a sustainable development model led by the government, market-led, superimposed brands, unified standards, and shared and co-constructed. The channels for farmers’ income increase have been broadened, and cooperative enterprises have continued to make profits. This has achieved industry development, public benefit, resource integration, and efficiency improvement. All-round win-win situation.

  "Express delivery into the factory" has a broad space.

In the first half of the year, postal and express delivery companies relied on their urban and rural service networks, advanced informatization and intelligence technology and brand capital advantages to actively expand and explore supply chain businesses to help manufacturing companies reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Major enterprises serve more than a thousand customers, and the industry covers high-tech, automotive, fast-moving consumer, footwear, medicine, military-civilian integration and other fields. The business has continued to improve from terminal delivery to warehouse and distribution integration, and supply chain integration.
