Honda, a major automaker, announced that it will end production of the luxury sports car "NSX" by the end of next year.

As the development of vehicles for decarbonization such as EV = electric vehicles accelerates among manufacturers, popular sports cars will disappear.

According to the announcement, Honda will end production of the "NSX" in December next year.

The first model was released in 1990 and gained popularity as a luxury sports car.

Production was temporarily discontinued due to stricter environmental regulations, but in 2016 the second-generation current model was revived and sold as a hybrid vehicle.

Regarding the reason for the discontinuation of production, the company explained that "it has played a part in the company's brand through technological innovation and motor sports activities, but it has played a role."

In the automobile industry, manufacturers around the world are accelerating the electrification of cars by advocating decarbonization, and Honda has also set a goal to make all new cars sold in 2040 EVs and FCVs = fuel cell vehicles.

We are already reviewing the product lineup, such as deciding to discontinue the production of the minivan "Odyssey," but this time the representative sports car will disappear.

The company wants to concentrate its management resources on the development of EVs and the like in the future.
