As agricultural, livestock and fishery products, personal services, and petroleum products rose all at once, the consumer price inflation rate jumped to the highest level this year again last month.

The government expects prices to stabilize in the remainder of the second half of the year, but it is unlikely that the inflation rate will go down easily as the rise in the cost of living is unusual.

The consumer price index for July was 107.61, up 2.6% from the same month last year.

It is the same level as the 2.6% increase in May, which was the highest in 9 years and 1 month, and the rate of increase exceeded 2% for the fourth consecutive month since April.

Agricultural and fishery products rose 9.6%, with eggs rising by 57% and garlic by 45.9%.

Electricity, water, and gas rose 0.3% and turned to rise as the discount on electricity rates was reduced and the effect of the city gas rate cut disappeared.

In the case of personal service, eating out rose by 2.5% as a whole, up 2.7%, and rent rose by 1.4%, the largest increase since November 2017, with jeonse and monthly rent rising by 2% and 0.8% from the previous year.

“Prices of personal services, livestock products, and petroleum have continued to rise,” said Eo Woon-seon, director of economic trend statistics at Statistics Korea. I did.

He said, "This month, the livestock mortality rate increased due to the heat wave, reflecting the expansion of the livestock product rise again."
