Pacific saury, which has been suffering from severe poor fishing for the past few years, is expected to continue to have a small amount of fish around Japan. He said he would stay at the standard.

In addition to the decrease in the amount of resources of saury itself, the number of fish coming to the waters near Japan is decreasing and the fishing grounds are far away, so serious poor fishing has continued for the past few years.

According to a survey conducted by the national research institute "Fisheries Research and Education Agency" from June to July, the amount of saury coming to fishing grounds such as the sea near Japan from Hokkaido to off Chiba prefecture is the lowest ever. Although it is higher than last year, it is lower than the amount of deceased.

In addition, the fishing grounds after the end of September are mainly offshore, and the saury moves southward to the offshore of Sanriku in the end of October, which is about a month later than usual, and the amount of saury is said to be small.

As a result, the catch of Pacific saury this year is expected to remain low, although it will exceed last year's record low of 29,000 tonnes.

The Fisheries Agency wants to continue investigating the causes of the decrease in the amount of saury resources and to strengthen international resource management in cooperation with each country.
