The Government is studying with the autonomous communities to request the digital certificate, also called a Covid passport,

to enter restaurants or discos

, as France and Italy do.

Some communities such as the Canary Islands and Galicia are also already beginning to request it to access closed areas or restaurants.

This was stated today by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, at a press conference after the meeting of the intersectoral Tourism conference.

Within this group there is talk of being

able to "give this document other uses different from the one it now has,"

according to Maroto.

"Legal guarantees must be given so that it can be used at the entrance to some establishments and that it has uses other than those that have been validated," he said.

In Spain, 11 million certificates had already been issued until last Monday

.

Taking into account that there are 26 million people with a complete vaccination schedule, it is assumed that one in four would have this certificate.

It was actually

approved within the EU to facilitate travel between member states.

This passport certifies that the person is vaccinated, has passed the disease or has a negative PCR test performed in the last hours.

That is, it does not present a risk.

The nightlife sector itself already asked in June, when the stores opened, to be able to use this system to facilitate safe activity.

France and Italy are also processing the use of the certificate to access leisure establishments.

Summer forecasts

Maroto has said that

the Government maintains the forecasts

of recovering half of the tourists that Spain received in 2019, with an increase in tourism spending, and they believe that national tourism will recover 70% compared to that year.

"We see a gradual reactivation,

with certain volatility due to the restrictions that some source markets are imposing," said Maroto, who recalled that the rate of vaccination (26 million with a double pattern and 65% with one pattern) makes "These weeks can be approached with some confidence and this is what we are transferring to the source markets."

Next week the data on tourist arrivals for the month of June will be published,

although it will not yet be possible to see if there is a recovery compared to last year, because at this time there were still perimeter closures in Spain and the borders were opened to end of the month.

"We must not alarm, but we must insist that vaccination is the best recipe to recover tourist activity," said Maroto, who has advanced that

73% of air capacity has been recovered

compared to 2019. "The destination Spain is being one of those chosen by international tourists who have decided to travel, "he said.
