The Iranian number one, who was hosting the members of President Rouhani's government for the last time, was very clear.

“

Your government's experience has shown that trust in the West does not work.

They don't help us and where they could strike us a blow, they did,

 ”Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Hassan Rohani and his government are still in place for a few days.

The next president, the conservative Ebrahim Raïssi must indeed take office on August 5, that is to say in a week.

The Iranian number one also criticized the United States, saying it did not want to lift the sanctions imposed on Iran since 2018 by former President Donald Trump.

“

In word and on paper, they say they are lifting the sanctions.

They didn't and won't.

They are setting conditions,

”said the Iranian number one, adding that the Americans especially want to include Iran's ballistics program and regional policy in future negotiations.

Iran and the great powers conducted six rounds of negotiations in Vienna to revive the 2015 nuclear deal and allow the lifting of US sanctions and the return of Tehran to its commitments.

But these negotiations are currently at an impasse.
