ABB Group will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai, as an official partner of the Sweden Pavilion, and will display its leading technology in a digital and interactive way in partnership with more than 100 companies and institutions.

With its history spanning more than 130 years, and Sweden’s position as one of the company’s birthplaces, the group’s efforts will be combined with the country’s efforts to highlight the most innovative solutions that will help build a smart society, under the pavilion’s slogan “Share in innovation for creativity.”

While in Dubai, ABB Group will highlight how to turn plastic waste into furniture using a custom-made robot from the group, as well as how to increase the sustainability and production efficiency of mining operations using smart digital solutions. Other projects include ABB solutions that help transform Västerås, Sweden's fifth largest urban area, into one of the country's smartest cities, constructing one of the world's tallest wooden buildings as a showcase for the latest energy technologies, and researching new materials from For a smarter and more sustainable future.

ABB Group CEO Björn Rosengren will also participate in a high-level symposium under the theme "Switzerland and Sweden - Partners in Technology and Sustainability" to review 100 years of official relations between the two countries.

In collaboration with representatives from Switzerland and Sweden, the event will reveal how the industry can contribute to the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between two innovation agencies, Vinova and Innosuez, in the areas of knowledge, learning, science and sustainable innovation.

Rosengren said: “ABB Group is proud to be a part of this event that addresses the major challenges our world is facing today, and we are convinced that our electrical and automation solutions play a vital role in demonstrating the power of innovation and technology for a more sustainable world. It serves as an ideal platform for the ABB Group to position ourselves as a technology leader, with an intense focus on people, technology and sustainability.”

Sweden's Minister of Foreign Trade, Anna Hallberg, said: "Expo 2020 is a unique opportunity to highlight innovative, smart and sustainable technologies that can solve the world's most pressing challenges, and I am proud to see Sweden and Swedish companies at the forefront of this, and the (Group) ABB) is a good example of that, and I greatly appreciate their participation as an official partner of the Sweden Pavilion.”
