A private-sector survey has been concluded that the percentage of people who feel that work efficiency has improved for the first time in telework, which has been introduced since the spread of the new coronavirus, has started to decrease.

This survey has been conducted by the Japan Productivity Center since May last year to investigate changes in working styles and consciousness after the spread of infection, and this is the sixth time.

In this survey, which was conducted via the Internet earlier this month and was answered by 1,100 people, when asked "Is work efficiency improved?" To those who are teleworking at home, they answered "It went up" and "It went up a little." The total ratio of people was 50%, which was the first decrease by 9 points from the previous survey in April.

When asked "Are you satisfied with working from home?", 70% answered "Satisfied" or "Satisfied", down from the previous 75%.

Regarding this, Akira Kakioka, a senior researcher at the Japan Productivity Center, pointed out that more than a year has passed since the spread of the infection, and so-called "telework fatigue" such as feeling lonely among workers may have occurred. "Business owners need to be considerate of the mental health of their workers," he said.
