The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has put together a draft of the national energy policy, the "Basic Energy Plan."

The ratio of renewable energy will be increased from the current plan by 10 points or more to "36% to 38%" for decarbonization.

The basic energy plan is reviewed every three years, and this time, what kind of power source composition will be shown toward the realization of the government's goal of reducing greenhouse gases by 46% toward 2030 compared to 2013. Is the focus.

Regarding this, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry presented a draft of a new plan at a meeting of experts on the 21st.

According to this, the ratio of renewable energy was set to "36% to 38%" as the power source composition in 2030.

With the high goal of raising it by 10 points or more from the current plan of "22% to 24%" formulated three years ago, we aim to thoroughly make it the main power source.

Regarding nuclear power, we maintained the same level as the current plan of "20% to 22%", saying that we would "sustainably utilize the required scale."

However, the new construction, expansion, and rebuilding of nuclear power plants are not included in the same way as the current plan.

The aim is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by using a decarbonized power source, which covers about 60%.

On the other hand, the thermal power that emits carbon dioxide will be significantly reduced from 56% of the current plan to 41%.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is aiming to deepen discussions based on this draft and make a cabinet decision in October.
