On July 16, the press conference of China Mobile's self-driving network white paper was held in Beijing. This press conference was an important milestone for China Mobile to move towards self-driving network. The growth of the industry provides solid theoretical guidance and rich production practices.

As a strategic partner, Lu Hongju, President of Huawei's Public Development Department, was invited to witness and deliver a keynote speech on "Joining Hands to Build an Autonomous Driving Network".

In 2019, China Mobile and Huawei took the lead in jointly proposing the concept of autonomous driving networks.

It has been more than 2 years from choosing Henan Mobile as the first innovation base to gradually formulating grade evaluation standards and carrying out national status quo assessments, working hand in hand with each other, and working together to promote the development and growth of the industry.

This practice not only verified the feasibility of the autonomous driving network, but also stimulated the infinite possibilities of intelligent upgrades in the communications industry.

"Huawei is willing to continue to walk with China Mobile, maintain close communication and cooperation in strategy, architecture and road signs, and jointly promote the self-driving network from dream to reality." Lu Hongju said.

It is reported that the autonomous driving network is Huawei’s core strategy for 2030 in the telecommunications field. The goal is to use data and knowledge to drive an intelligent minimalist network to achieve network automation, self-healing, self-optimization, and autonomy, enabling new services and achieving ultimate customer experience Fully automatic operation and maintenance, the most efficient use of resources and energy.

Huawei will actively contribute to the three aspects of "technical innovation, commercial joint creation, and mature standards" to help the industry grow and develop and achieve China Mobile's strategic goals.

First, in terms of technological innovation, Huawei will focus on research on multi-agent architecture and autonomous systems. The goal is to build a single-domain autonomous intelligent system around the two closed loops of network control and knowledge learning.

After 30 years of development, the communication network has evolved into a super complex, carrying multiple services, multiple disciplines, multiple fields, and multiple vendors.

If you want to move towards autonomous driving, it essentially evolves from a super-complex body into a super-intelligent body.

"Single-domain autonomous network intelligent control is the cornerstone of automatic driving in operation and maintenance," said Lu Hongju.

By breaking through the five key technologies of network environment perception, situation analysis, multi-objective decision-making, action planning, self-learning, and self-evolution, Huawei is committed to solving network complexity while enhancing adaptability.

Secondly, Huawei will adhere to commercial joint creation, aiming at production practices, and speeding up the transformation of results.

Over the past two years, under the overall leadership of China Mobile Group, Huawei has carried out a total of 45 application innovations in 23 provinces and cities including Henan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Beijing, Hunan, and Tianjin. On the one hand, it has achieved L2 scale applications and L3 first. The results of the pilot program, on the other hand, contributed solid production experience to the advancement of the group's systemization.

Lu Hongju said that the primary secret of joint innovation is to choose the right bullseye, and the technical “leaders” of the provincial companies play a leading role in choosing the right bullseye.

At the same time, innovation is inseparable from the close coordination and open cooperation of operators, equipment manufacturers, and O/B domain manufacturers.

It is expected that all parties will accelerate the speed and ability of version iteration, and operators will complement the transformation of process, organization and talents to truly realize all-round innovation and breakthroughs in autonomous driving networks.

In addition, the development of the communications industry is inseparable from the maturity of the standard system. Standard work is not only the focus of the industrial development stage, but also the key to large-scale applications.

According to Lu Hongju, on the one hand, Huawei actively contributes to its technological advantages in the ICT field, and has participated in the development and discussion of 19+ standard documents, covering 7 major areas such as vision, architecture, level standards, and interface specifications.

On the other hand, it actively cooperates with TMF, CCSA, GSMA, 3GPP, ETSI and other standards and industrial organizations to carry out technical collaborative work to promote industry partners to play their respective expertise.

Lu Hongju said that the autonomous driving network is an extremely complex system project that will not be accomplished overnight. Huawei has formulated intergenerational development roadmaps for L4 autonomous driving networks in various product areas to fully support China Mobile's 2025 goal.
