China News Service, Beijing, July 16 (Reporter Chen Su) According to data released by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China on the 16th, as China's domestic social economy resumes normal operations, the air transport industry has begun to gradually recover. In the first half of the year, The total transportation turnover of central air transport enterprises was 29.31 billion ton-kilometers, a year-on-year increase of 38.8%. The total monthly transportation turnover has maintained positive growth for five consecutive months.

At the press conference of the State Council Information Office held that day, Peng Huagang, secretary-general and spokesperson of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China, said that since the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the international and domestic air transport industries have been greatly impacted.

In 2020, China’s three central air transport companies, without exception, were severely impacted. The total annual transport turnover and passenger transport volume for the year were less than half of the normal year, and they lost nearly 30 billion yuan (RMB, the same below).

"However, China quickly resumed production, the economy and society resumed normal operations, and the air transport industry is gradually recovering. This year is obviously better than the same period in 2020." Peng Huagang said that in the first half of this year, the total turnover of the three central air transport companies increased. 38.8%, passenger traffic increased by 63.1%, cargo and mail traffic increased by 25.2%, and the main business volume has recovered to more than 70% of the same period in 2019.

In the first half of the year, the total operating income increased by nearly 30% year-on-year. Although the net profit was at a loss, the loss was significantly reduced by more than 15 billion yuan compared with the same period last year.

Speaking of the development of central air transport companies abroad, Peng Huagang said that China’s domestic epidemic prevention and control is very beneficial, but the epidemic in some countries abroad is still relatively serious, which will definitely affect overseas business.

According to the domestic epidemic prevention and control requirements, overseas flights have not fully returned to normal, and the flow of personnel must meet the domestic epidemic prevention and control requirements. Therefore, chartered flights and other forms have been adopted to coordinate the dispatch and vacation rotation of enterprise employees.

Up to now, a total of 170,000 employees have been dispatched, of which 20,000 have been dispatched by chartered flights, 170,000 have been received, and 10,000 have been received by chartered flights.
