The main building of Odakyu Department Store's Shinjuku store, which is to be demolished due to the redevelopment of the west exit of Shinjuku station, will be closed at the end of September next year.

Odakyu Electric Railway, which plans to build a high-rise building on the site, says, "It is undecided whether a department store will be in the new building."

At the west exit of Shinjuku Station, Odakyu Electric Railway and Tokyo Metro have decided to redevelop the area centered on the main building of the Shinjuku store of Odakyu Department Store, and plan to build a new 48-story high-rise building in 2029.



Along with this redevelopment, the building of the Shinjuku store main building is to be demolished and will be closed at the end of September next year.



The main building of the Shinjuku store was opened in 1967 and has 2 basement floors and 14 floors above ground. The design integrated with the West Exit Square has been popular with many people as a symbol of the West Exit of Shinjuku Station.



After the main building is closed, some of the sales floors for food and cosmetics will be moved to the adjacent commercial facility "Shinjuku West Exit Halc" to continue selling.
