The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the 13th to introduce financial statistics for the first half of 2021.

At the meeting, a reporter asked questions and said that since the fall of 2020, the central bank has expanded the tax point for digital renminbi. Last week, the deputy governor of the People's Bank of China mentioned that the number of whitelisted users has reached 10 million.

So far, how has the central bank evaluated the effects of these pilots?

In October 2020, six pilot test areas were added in Shanghai, Hainan, Changsha, Xi'an, Qingdao, and Dalian.

The selection of digital RMB research and development pilots takes into account factors such as major national development strategies, regional coordinated development strategies, and local industrial and economic characteristics. The current pilot provinces and cities basically cover the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the central region, the western region, and the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and the western region. Different regions such as the Northeast and Northwest are widely representative, which is conducive to the experiment and evaluation of the application prospects of digital RMB in different regions of my country.

Ruan Jianhong said that the digital RMB pilot test adheres to the principle of "safe, safe, and controllable" and focuses on small transactions from invited whitelisted users.

During the pilot process, all parties showed a strong interest in digital renminbi, and users in the pilot areas were also relatively motivated. The pilot scenarios covered life payment, catering services, transportation, shopping and consumption, government services and other fields.
