After confinements and demand that had remained at a standstill for a long time, moves are picking up again, reaching record levels since last June.

The sector is doing very well again and is redoubling its inventiveness to offer the best deals to their customers.

INTERVIEW

We have never moved so much as in June 2021. After a difficult 2020 marked by confinement, the moving sector is catching up and posting an astounding growth rate. Entrepreneur witness to the show

La France Bouge

, Monday on Europe 1, Benoît Drillon, managing director of Déméco, leader of the move, evokes a network with + 50% of activity compared to last year. In addition, he adds, "June is the best month in the history of the Déméco network". Where do the French move, and especially how? Cardboard boxes, mobile furniture repositories, online empty apartment solutions ... Élisabeth Assayag and Emmanuel Duteil received several entrepreneurs who intend to facilitate this project, which is often a source of anxiety.

"Limit stress"

"The first element is the permanent search for the improvement of the customer journey", explains Benoît Drillon, of Déméco, adding that, according to certain studies, the move is the fourth source of stress in France. “Anything that can be done to limit stress when moving, we do it,” he continues, referring in particular to maintaining close contact with clients to assure them of the seriousness and support of the move. moving team. Especially since, thanks to the health crisis, there are more major moves, "between 200 and 250 kilometers on the outskirts of cities", specifies Benoît Drillon. "There is a form of urban exodus towards the countryside," he says, adding that in large cities such as Nantes, Toulouse or Lyon, "we see, compared to two years ago, 25% more departures, and 25% fewer arrivals. "

Faced with this increase in demand, the cost of the move necessarily increases, concedes the CEO of Déméco. "It is the law of supply and demand". Anyway, he reminds us that Déméco is at the origin of the fragmented offers, allowing the customer to choose the offers from which he wishes to benefit. "We can do anything", assures Benoît Drillon. "There are sites where we do nothing and only deliver the boxes, and sites where we do everything, including unpacking the boxes." However, some customers heading to a new life wish to remain independent, and save money by remaining as independent as possible. If they do not use movers, they can nevertheless use the services of other professionals in the sector,to provide moving boxes, in particular.

"A parade" for the boxes

"Demand is increasing more and more, it's astronomical, it's a parade", enthuses Marc Taïb, manager of France Emball ', a packaging specialist.

Very affected by the health crisis, the company also benefits from this increase in removals.

France Emball sells packaging to industry, to clothing manufacturers and directly to individuals, which Déméco has not done (until now), cartons being (until now) part of the service.

"Last week, we started our own site for the sale of moving boxes", however announces Benoît Drillon on the air.

The strength of France Emball's boxes, 'Marc Taïb insists, is that they have been manufactured by the same French factories for 26 years. "We have never bought a box abroad," he said, citing in particular suppliers in Saint-Étienne and Poix-de-Picardie. In addition, everything is recycled: bags, tape, hangers, plastic bags, paper bags, bubble wrap ... And the price is put forward as the main strong point. "For 50 euros, we deliver twenty boxes, two wardrobes, two rolls of tape and a roll of bubble wrap, free of charge throughout Paris."

Before the cardboard stage, a sign that customers are leaving, some are still waiting for their new home to be ready.

In the meantime, they need to store in an intermediate way.

For this, the company Mobile Cube offers mobile furniture repositories which are also very successful.

Storage boxes for those "who want to do it alone"

It is the phenomenon of the piece in addition, and it is aimed "at people who want to do it alone, and not to call on moving companies", explains Bernard Sion, manager of the company. Created in 2018, Mobile Cube offers wooden crates of 4m² on the ground delivered to the customer's home. Large storage containers which benefit from strong demand "generated by the evolution of the population towards the outside, and in particular the Atlantic coast", specifies Bernard Sion. "We have two networks of transport partners who are able to deliver and transport the boxes, and a logistics specialist in storage and warehousing where we will store our boxes," he explains.

Here again, the company is keen to remain French, "with wood from PEFC forests", specifies Bernard Sion.

As for the price, "it takes around fifty euros per month, per box", he says, justifying this price by the fact that the company does not need strong real estate structures.

"The cost of the surface per square meter is therefore lower than warehouse structures".

And for those who would like to move (lighter), Izidore can help them.

The first online empty-apartment site allows them to buy and sell second-hand furniture and household appliances.

In just two years of existence, the company boasts of having already helped some 50,000 users, and emptied more than 5,000 apartments, mostly in large cities.
