The costs for a place in the nursing home are rising and rising: on average, 2125 euros are now due.

The main reason is rising salaries for staff.

These are politically wanted.

With an ignorance that is hard to believe, the Union and the SPD have ignored the question of who should pay for it.

The planned nursing reform turned into a hastily adopted reform that ignores long-term financing.

And that, contrary to all assurances, will initially bring little relief to the financially heavily burdened person in need of care.

Because they do receive a percentage grant that grows over time.

But if costs continue to rise as rapidly as they did recently, the bottom line is that they should at least initially pay as much as they do today.

In addition, the grant relates exclusively to the costs of care - but accommodation and food also make up a large chunk.

So disappointment is programmed.

And one thing is clear: the new federal government urgently needs to tackle the building sites in care.
