The 2021 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) will be held in Shanghai on July 8.

The theme of this year's conference is "Smart Connected World, All Wisdom Becomes a City", aiming to bring together the latest achievements and viewpoints of the world's artificial intelligence development, draw a new blueprint for the global artificial intelligence co-governance, and inject new vitality into the healthy development of artificial intelligence in my country.

Li Yanhong, the founder, chairman and CEO of Baidu, was invited to attend and deliver a speech entitled "Artificial Intelligence: A Transforming Force Affecting Human Development in the Future".

Li Yanhong believes that the changes that artificial intelligence brings to the industry and society are ultimately to serve people.

He said that the value of artificial intelligence is to help people, teach people to learn, and let people grow, not to surpass and replace people.

Technology is truly meaningful only if it serves people and society, and generates more positive values and contributions.

Li Yanhong pointed out that in the past, discussions on artificial intelligence have mostly focused on economics and ethics, but there have been few discussions on social values.

The social value of artificial intelligence and people's yearning for a better life are closely related to high-quality development, and it is worthy of serious consideration by all sectors of society.

"For example, when we talked about intelligent transportation, we paid more attention to the promotion of the increase in traffic efficiency on urban GDP growth. According to our calculations, a 15% increase in traffic efficiency can be converted into 2.4% of GDP. For example, Li Yanhong said, “but we ignore that traffic is actually a livelihood issue, with obvious social attributes, service attributes and public attributes. People’s feelings about traffic jams and the feelings of restricted traffic and purchases far surpass them. Corresponding economic losses.” He said that building an intelligent transportation system through “smart cars” and “smart roads” can not only significantly reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents, increase the probability of safe passage, but also make people feel better. Life is more perceptive, making travel more green and environmentally friendly.

Li Yanhong believes that artificial intelligence will be a transformative force affecting human development in the next 40 years.

This force is constantly accumulating today. The application of artificial intelligence technology in transportation, finance, industry, energy, media and other industries has given new ideas and new solutions for the digital upgrade of the industry, and has even begun to reshape the entire industry. The face of human beings, which in turn affects the future of human society.

"AI technology is combined with different people and scenes in the physical world, allowing it to inadvertently integrate into the context of society. The convenience brought by artificial intelligence technology will eventually evolve into a kind of'subconscious' of people and society." Li Yanhong said .

Baidu has been preparing for this for many years.

Li Yanhong revealed that Baidu just launched a new generation of shared unmanned car Apollo moon not long ago, with the goal of making travel cheaper than current online car-hailing.

"In the next 2-3 years, we plan to fully open the shared unmanned car service to 30 cities in China to serve a wider range of users; our latest smart car is also under rapid development, and it is expected that everyone will be able to experience it in 2-3 years To a car that is more like a robot."

It is reported that Baidu ACE traffic engine has been launched in more than 20 provinces, cities and regions including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chongqing.

With the help of embroidered digital intersections and intelligent transportation operator models brought by the "ACE Intelligent Transportation Engine", Chinese cities are building world-class intelligent transportation system clusters.

Not long ago, Baidu also released its own carbon neutrality target, promising to achieve carbon neutrality at the group's operational level by 2030.

Li Yanhong said that Baidu will also work with its ecological partners to use AI to help "zero-carbon growth", make further efforts to achieve negative carbon emissions, help China achieve its "2060 carbon neutral" goal, and help achieve the global climate goal of not exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius. .
