Gap clothing company closes all of its stores in Britain

The American clothing and accessories retailer, Gap, announced yesterday evening, Wednesday, its intention to sell its stores in France and Italy, in addition to closing all its stores in Britain and Ireland, and only selling clothes in the two countries via the Internet.

The US chain said it is currently negotiating with Harmony People & Brands, a subsidiary of FIB Group, to sell Gap stores in France to it.

Gap is also in discussions with a partner to acquire its stores in Italy.

Gap indicated that it proposes to close all Gap Specialty and Gap Outlet stores operated by the company in Britain and Ireland in phases, starting from the end of August until the end of next September.

The company attributed this proposal to the changes in the market in Britain and Ireland.

At the same time, the company indicated its intention to continue selling its products in the two countries via the Internet.
